CHIEF COMMISSIONER'S AWARD
The 2008 Midlands Region Chief Commissioner Awards ceremony was recently held at Middleton Hall. The Region Chief Commissioner, Lesley Knighton, presented the awards for outstanding service to local guiding to 67 leaders from Midlands Region, 11 of whom came from Nottinghamshire.
They were Joy Johnson (14th Mansfield Brownies), Judith Gill (4th Mansfield (St John’s) Rainbow, Brownie and Guide Units, Glenis Robinson (2nd Attenborough (St Mary’s) Brownies), June Ray (1st Misterton Ranger, Guide and Rainbow Units, Retford), Helen Hutchinson (1st Westwood Brownies, Hucknall), Janet Granger (53rd and 51st Nottingham Brownie and Guide Units), Joyce McDonald (3rd Southwell Guide Unit), Patricia Holmes (19th Mansfield and 4th Rainworth Rainbows), Annette Frearson (20th Nottingham (St Jude’s) Brownies), Brenda Blunt (105th Nottingham Brownies), Pat Robertson (12th West Bridgford Guide and Ranger Units)
ELAINE IS PRESENTED WITH MBE
Elaine Davey, has been a leader in Guiding since 1964, when she first took the reins at 1st Woodthorpe Guides . Subsequently she started the
1st A Woodthorpe Guides. Although she relinquished leadership of the two Woodthorpe units last year, Elaine remains an active member at county level.
The award was presented, for services to Guiding
at an Investiture conducted by The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
