Adults

If you're aged between 18 and 65 and would like the chance to have fun, make friends, and learn new skills - try volunteering with Girlguiding Nottinghamshire! Volunteering is a great way to gain a wide range of experience and skills and Girlguiding is the largest UK organisation for girls and young women.

For everyone's safety, all Leaders, Helpers and Young Leaders over 16 years must complete a Criminal Record Bureau check request form and a Girlguiding Adult Application form providing personal references. These are both verified before an adult is permitted to work with girls unsupervised. GuideguidingUK operates a "Safe From Harm" Policy for the protection of adults and the children in their care.

Leaders are adult volunteers who complete the training scheme provided by GirlguidingUK to help them work safely and enjoyably with the girls.

Helpers do not need to undergo training. They are volunteers who offer to help in a specific capacity, maybe as a regular extra adult at a meeting, perhaps as a treasurer or to provide a special skill that the girls might enjoy.

Trefoil Guild members are women and men over 18 who want to continue to enjoy the camaraderie of Guiding or Scouting. Usually, they are no longer (or not currently) active members but still support Guiding.

Can anyone volunteer with Guiding?

We are an inclusive organisation and are grateful for all the help we are given. If a volunteer has disabilities we will try to provide whatever assistance they need to help them support the girls they are working with. We have two county Advisers for Members with Disabilities who help to make guiding accessible to everyone. To find out more about support for members with special needs click here.

We try not to use too much jargon but inevitably some creeps into our information, if you need help understanding it click here for our Jargon Buster.
