First Response Refresher

Welcome to the local new pilot programme to refresh you First Aid Skills called;

Cross: reFResh

reFResh has now been extended until July 2010 by popular demand. Girl Guiding Nottinghamshire will be offering a new and exciting way to refresh your First Aid Skills. This will be undertaken in two parts;

Part One – An online self-assessment programme run by the BBC to test your current First Aid knowledge. This First Aid Skills programme is available at:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/first_aid/skills_programme/index.shtml

Complete all eight sections of the skills wheel to test your knowledge on;

If you feel confident with your knowledge and abilities after completing the programme then sign the declaration form and proceed to part two. If not please arrange to attend a face to face refresher training or full First Response Course.

Part Two – A short practical session to practice your skills in CPR, recovery position and bandaging. These short sessions can be undertaken at a Division, District or County level by a qualified First Aid Trainer. This is not an assessment but an opportunity to refresh your skills with a approved First Aid trainer. The First Aid Trainer will be required to sign your declaration form too.

Approved First Aid Trainers are qualified trainers through recognised organisations e.g. Red Cross or St Johns Ambulance. Girlguiding Nottinghamshire has several trainers that can be approached. For further details do not hesitate to contact me.

Once the reFResh declaration form has been signed please forward to the Guide office to record that your have completed the reFResh programme.

As this is a pilot you will be invited to evaluate the programme through an on line confidential survey that will be e-mailed to you once the declaration form has been completed.

Many thanks for taking part in this pilot programme.
